Anthony van Dyck Series

A series of copies of portrait paintings by the Baroque master Anthony van Dyck. The copies go beyond mere copying or break up the copied subject. The play of light, the drama, the seriousness and craft of the painting and the importance of the representation are part of the series, as well as the respect for the master and his dark, serious subject, allowing only as much light into the painting as is necessary, is addressed by the quick reproduction, sometimes missing a detail but always keeping the whole in mind.
The series is a tribute to serious portraiture, which has been lost to time for good reason. One should not forget that what falls can get up again or stay on the ground forever.
